Privacy Policy
How we handle your data — honestly and transparently
Last updated: July 19, 2026
Adolf Habits ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it — in plain language, without legal jargon.
1. What Data We Collect
We collect only the data necessary to provide the habit tracking service. Here's exactly what we collect:
- Account Information: Your name and email address when you create an account.
- Habit Data: The habits you create, including names, targets (daily/weekly), check-in history, and streaks.
- Usage Data: Basic analytics about how you use the app (e.g., which features you use most) to improve the product.
- Payment Information: If you subscribe to Premium, our payment processor collects your payment details. We never see or store your full credit card number.
2. What We DON'T Collect
- We don't track your location.
- We don't access your contacts or other apps on your device.
- We don't serve third-party ads or use ad tracking.
- We don't sell your data to anyone. Ever.
- We don't use your habit data for anything other than providing the service to you.
3. Why We Collect This Data
- Account Information: To create and manage your account, send you important service updates, and provide support.
- Habit Data: This is the core of the service — we store your habits, check-ins, and streaks so you can track your progress. Without this data, the app can't function.
- Usage Data: To understand how people use the app, identify bugs, and improve features. This is aggregated and anonymized wherever possible.
- Email: To send reminders you've opted into, service updates (like password resets), and optional product updates.
4. How We Store and Protect Your Data
Your data is stored on secure servers. We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit, and data at rest is encrypted. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — we never store plain-text passwords.
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure. If we detect a data breach, we will notify affected users promptly via email.
5. Email Communications
We send three types of emails:
- Service Emails: Password resets, account confirmations, subscription receipts — these are essential and you can't opt out.
- Reminder Emails: Daily or custom reminders to check in on your habits. You can configure or disable these in your account settings.
- Product Updates: Occasional emails about new features or improvements. You can opt out anytime with one click.
6. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We use the following third-party services to operate Adolf Habits:
- Payment Processor (Stripe): Handles subscription payments. Their privacy policy applies to payment data.
- Email Service: Sends transactional emails and reminders. We only share your email address and the content of the email being sent.
- Hosting Provider: Stores the application and database. They have security measures in place but do not access your data.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other third parties for their marketing purposes.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You have full control over your data:
- Access: You can view and export all your habit data from your account settings (CSV export is a Premium feature).
- Update: You can update your name, email, and notification preferences at any time in account settings.
- Delete: You can delete your account and all associated data permanently from your account settings. This action is irreversible — once deleted, all your data is gone.
- Opt Out: You can disable email reminders and product update emails from your notification settings.
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication (keeping you logged in) and session management. We don't use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies. If you disable cookies, you won't be able to stay logged in to the app.
9. Data Retention
We retain your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your personal data and habit history is permanently deleted within 30 days. Some anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytical purposes.
10. Children's Privacy
Adolf Habits is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.
11. Changes to This Policy
If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we'll notify you by email and post a notice on the website. Minor updates (like fixing typos or clarifying language) may be made without notice.
12. How to Delete Your Account
To delete your account and all associated data:
- Log in to your account
- Go to Account Settings → Danger Zone
- Click "Delete Account" and confirm
All your data will be permanently deleted. This cannot be undone.
